"Sorry!"

This is one of many pictures I have of Sage getting into trouble, but when you are a dog owner, the getting into trouble part is inevitable. I'm sure there are some "angel dogs" out there, but if yours is anything like mine, "sorry" is the word that comes out of my mouth most often. Today I was reminded of this fact when I took Sage to the park. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and it seemed like everyone and their dog was at the park. Typically, when I take Sage to the park, I don't have her on a leash. She is free to swim, run, and get all that Labrador energy out! However, today was not the day for that. But being the stubborn girl that I am, and having all the confidence in the world in my exquisite dog training, I trusted Sage to trot along at my side as we made our way around the park. Everything was going great until I saw out of the corner of my eye, a squirrel...and Sage, well, she hates squirrels. But before I could do or say anything, Sage took off full speed across the field after that darn creature. Unfortunately I also noticed, two unsuspecting picnickers having a romantic lunch together on the waters edge. "Sageeeeee! Come here," I yelled as I sprinted after her. After a quick glance over her shoulder in my direction, she ran right over to the couple, greeted them both with a kiss on the face, and a couple of whacks with her tail. "Ahhh, I'm so sorry," I said as I dragged Sage behind me. They kinda forced a half smile and said it was ok, but I knew they weren't too pleased.

"Dad, I'm sorry Sage chewed the insulation off the pipes."
"Marie, Sage thinks your stuffed animals are hers, I'm sorry she slobbered them all."
"Are you sure that was Sage that peed on the carpet? Well I'm sorry if it was."
"Sorry she got you all wet, you know how labs just love the water. We're still learning about jumping up on people."
"Sorry. I think those paw prints will come out of your jeans. I have some of that spray on stain remover stuff if you want to use it."

Learning how to say sorry is a tough thing for some people. Luckily is not for me.
